I apostrophise . . .

It is not hard, dear person,
To correctly employ an
Apostrophe.
Think only of gaps perhaps
Where a letter might
In a fuller form be written
And where the words are
Now running one into another.
There - you see - simple
That is where you insert the
Useful and unassuming apostrophe.
I cannot accept this blanket
Assumption that if you are
Implying ownership then
An apostrophe is always needed
And in these cases anyway it

Is wiser to err on the side of omission.
It cannot be hard, no, it can't be hard,
To apply a small amount of thought.
Can it?

Today the prompt was to excoriate something or someone, but I was feeling disinclined to that and have instead indulged in a milder rant on one of my pet aversions.
