A Junk Drawer Song.

You were nobbut a little 'un but even so
I must have decided to keep you
Years and years and years ago.
Now you're a big 'un and seem to be
Taking up a lot of room in this drawer
Whatever use you may one day be.
I thought I'd not kept you that twelvemonth ago
But there you are lurking beneath
The glue, the rubber bands, and that tin of Brasso.
That broken pot used to mean a lot to me
But now it rattles at the back of the drawer
And waits with a sharp edge for the unwise not to see!

The junk drawer is a metaphor for our lives, it is
The repository of the things we know we should be
Dealing with, but that we hide from and put on one
Side to attend to tomorrow.
But tomorrow never comes.

Today the prompt was to combine the lyrics of a song (in my case 'The Parting') with the contents of your junk drawer.
